The Federal Government Scholarship Awards for 2023–2024 are open to qualified Nigerians, and are given out by the Honorable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu.

Postgraduate (PG) studies are tenable in Russia (for individuals whose first degrees were received from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.
Undergraduate (UG) studies are tenable in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Venezuela.

Eligible Study Subjects:

Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (relatively limited), Pilot Engineering, Neurologist, and Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD) in all fields are all available at the undergraduate level.

Conditions for Scholarships:

All applicants for undergraduate degree programs must have at least seven (7) Distinctions (As and Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) exclusively in the subjects pertinent to their fields of study, including English Language and Mathematics. For non-African countries, certificates should not be older than two (2) years (2021 & 2022), and they should only be one (1) year old (2022) for African nations. The age range is between 17 and 20.

A First Degree with a 1st Class or at least a 2nd Class Upper Division is required for all applicants to Postgraduate degree programs.

The N.Y.S.C. Programme must have been completed by all applicants, and the maximum age for Masters and Ph.D. programs is 35 and 40, respectively.

Only certifications issued by the N.Y.S.C. for discharge or exemption are accepted; and

ii) Proof that you are prepared to be fired by your employer.

Essential Documents

Candidates who have been recommended by the Board must submit the following materials to the Federal Scholarship Board:

Academic transcripts that have been authenticated; the data page of a current international passport; specific medical reports from public hospitals; a birth certificate and an indigenous letter; and, if necessary, a police clearance certificate.
